For quite some time there has been a resurgence in designs with a futuristic theme. With the constant advances in technology and our ever changing economy, designers are reflecting on what the future of fashion may hold.
Blade Runner in particular nailed this mentality on the head. One of the most cutting edge and influential movies of our time, the film took a look at what Los Angeles would be like in the year 2019. With human replicants roaming the streets and bounty hunters keeping them in check, it was important for costume designers of the film to keep a mix of vintage and futuristic when dressing the characters. The end result was clothing and makeup that recalled the 80's punk and 40's feminine glam aesthetic.
We took a bit of inspiration from the film when styling our most recent shoot, pulling dresses by Funktional and shoes from Jeffrey Campbell, to create the ultimate femme fatal.
